What would you do if you uncovered a plot to defraud every British citizen of his assets? John Harris, junior economist for Routemans, a private bank based in London, arrives home from abroad to discover just such an ingenious scheme. Developed by senior officials in the Bank of England, their plan - if not foiled - will defraud the British public of their bank deposits, the ownership of their homes and cars, and any assets against which money has been borrowed. As Harris struggles to comprehend the magnitude, the timing, and the consequences of this plot, he finds his own life at stake. Fleeing London, and then his home and family in Westmorland, Harris is pursued by agents of wealthy bankers who will stop at nothing to make sure their conspiracy remains hidden. Can he outwit them, and make the plot known to the British people?
